Vehicles

Menu → Vehicles

Your own cars, with live data when they're connected, plus every vehicle the cameras see coming up the drive.

My vehicles

  • Add my vehicle: type the VIN and press Look up to fill in the year, make and model, or type them yourself. Add the colour, plate and a few photos. Your car gets a card here, and the cameras recognize it when it pulls in.
  • Connect for live data: sign in to your car maker's account through Smartcar (most brands), or directly with Tesla, Volvo or BMW. A car whose VIN matches shows its battery or fuel, range, odometer, whether it's at a house, and whether it's locked. Cars your Home Assistant already brings (Rivian, Lucid, Subaru and more) show up too.
  • Buttons: lock, unlock, start or stop charging, climate and flash the lights, depending on what the car allows. Each one asks first. BMW is status only.
  • Connected cars that aren't in My vehicles yet are listed at the top with an Add button.

Visits and known vehicles

Every vehicle the cameras see is grouped into visits that show when it arrived and when it was last seen. PorchIQ learns the vehicles you tell it about.

  • Add a vehicle: give it a name and a couple of photos. Adding the license plate makes matches certain.
  • “This is…” on an unknown visit names it. PorchIQ then offers other past visits that look like the same vehicle, with the likely ones already ticked.
  • It's a new vehicle creates one from the visit.
  • Find past visits searches history for a vehicle you just added.

PorchIQ only learns new looks for a vehicle from visits you or a plate confirmed, and it won't match a vehicle that clearly doesn't fit (a delivery van is never your SUV). Deleting a vehicle turns its visits back into unknown ones.
