Automations

Menu → Automations

Describe what you want in plain words, and PorchIQ writes the automation for you.

  • Say what you want. For example: “When the last car leaves and it's after dark, turn off the lights and lock the front door.”
  • Read it back. PorchIQ shows the automation in plain English as When, Only if and Then, using only devices that exist at this house.
  • Check the replay. It replays last week's history and tells you when the automation would have run, for example “4 times last week: Tue 9:12 PM …”.
  • Turn it on. It goes live in Home Assistant, marked as made in PorchIQ.

If an automation misbehaves, describe what went wrong (“it turned the lights off while we were still outside”). PorchIQ reads its recent runs and fixes it. You can also open any existing Home Assistant automation to get a plain-English explanation and change it in words.
