Safety and privacy

  • Sensitive controls ask first. Locks, alarms, gates and garage doors always need confirmation, from the app, the assistant, automations and the API alike, and every action is logged with who did it.
  • Your data stays on your hardware. History, pictures, scans and settings live on the PorchIQ server in your home.
  • Keys never reach a browser. Home Assistant tokens and service keys are stored on the server only; settings pages only show whether each one is set.
  • Private access. Away from home, PorchIQ is reached over your private network, not the open internet. Only accounts on your list can sign in, and every sign-in is recorded.
  • Per-person access. Each person sees only the pages and controls you give them.
  • Encrypted backups. Only your recovery key opens them.
  • Health data integrations are off by default and only visible to admins unless you share them.
